A Winter Awareness & Fundraising Event for Sunshine

At 5:00 PM on Thursday, December 11th, Rob will climb onto the roof of the Sunshine office and remain there through Sunday at dusk as part of a winter awareness and fundraising event called Get Rob Off the Roof.

For the duration of the event, Rob will have only the most basic camping supplies:

  • A tent

  • A flashlight

  • And the clothes on his back

No heater. No comfort. Just exposure.

As fundraising milestones are reached, comfort items will be unlocked in real time, such as warmer clothing, sleeping gear, wind protection, and other essentials that mirror what many people need just to survive winter outdoors.

In addition to milestone unlocks, donors will also be able to make fun “purchases” during live streams, including:

  • Shoutouts

  • Live challenges

  • Lighthearted stunts

  • And other interactive moments that keep the event engaging and community-driven

This event is not about theatrics. It’s about visibility. Winter homelessness is quiet, dangerous, and easy to ignore. This is a way to make it impossible to look away.

Why This Matters

Every winter, people in our community are exposed to the cold with little to no protection. Some survive. Some don’t. The goal of this event is to fund real, immediate help for those living outside.

All funds raised during Get Rob Off the Roof will support Sunshine’s winter operations, including:

  • Street clinic medical outreach

  • Food pantry services

  • Clothing distribution

  • Emergency supplies

  • Operational overhead that keeps these programs running

Event End Time

Due to extreme cold conditions and operational responsibilities, the event is scheduled to end at dusk on Sunday, allowing Rob to return to work the following Monday and continue leading winter services on the ground.

How You Can Help

You can:

  • Donate to unlock warmth and survival supplies

  • Purchase live interactions and challenges

  • Share the event to expand its reach

  • Help turn cold exposure into real-world protection

This winter, we’re not asking people to imagine what it’s like to live outside.

We’re showing it.

And together, we’re doing something about it.
